ThinkPad X41 Tablet video is cool

Rob Bushway pointed us to the official ThinkPad Tablet web video that is up on the ThinkPad site. I just watched it and the coolest thing is the X4 dock. With an optical drive in the dock bay you can use the included InterVideo CD/ DVD Emulator to copy an image of a CD or DVD onto the Tablet hard drive for viewing after removing the Tablet from the dock. Now you can easily watch movies on trips without taking the dock! Sweet! Cool feature #2 on the pen - rocker switch that toggles the eraser on and off for erasing with the nib. [:)]

Call for ink-enabled photographers

I have been contacted by a listener who is interested in how Tablets can be leveraged in the field by photographers. It seems to me that Tablet PCs would be perfect as a photographer's tool in the field and also a capable photo editing station due to the digitizer. If there are any photographers who are currently using a Tablet I would love to speak to you about it and even have you on a future Tablet PC Show. Either leave a message for me here on the blog or shoot me an email, pun intended. :)

Just look around the Internet and it is quickly apparent how big a deal it is when the first ThinkPad Tablet PC is announced. The corporate world has been asking for one for some time and it is with great excitement this announcement today is being met. The IBM ThinkPad web site now has the X41 Tablet PC officially unveiled with a 3D virtual tour of the black convertible. The most interesting items revealed in the specs is the fact Lenovo chose to go with an XGA (1024 x 768) screen even though the X41 has a 12.1" LCD. The screen offers a 170 degree viewing angleIt is readily apparent the X41 Tablet PC is a beautiful design and the light weight (3.5 pounds) makes this a mobile professional's dream. The X41 can run up to 6.3 hours on the optional 8 cell battery. As expected, the X41 Tablet PC has the same ports and connectivity options that are present on the X41 notebook, and the optional X4 dock can also work with both the Tablet and the notebook versions.

According to CNET it sounds like that ThinkPad Tablet PC will be announced on Monday. :)

Minor observation

I notice that the default page width for the site is probably 800. This makes it just slighly wider than XGA Tablets in portrait. It would be nice if it would fit exactly, since I like to complain. :)
