Now that I've been using ink on TabletPCBlogs for a little while I've been thinking quite a bit about ways to make the experience even better--for the content creators as well as the readers.
One thought I've had is to create a facade and custom drawing panels that are geared towards cartoons and alternatively postcard-sized sketches.
For instance, if there was a blog dedicated only to cartoon drawing would it bring in a new group of readers and Tableteers? I think so. And what might a site like this be like? I envision a blog with a hefty ink drawing app that comes with all the basic drawing tools you need to create a nice cartoon. I've experimented with a standalone app in the past and now I'm thinking of resurrecting it so that it can be hosted in a content management system. Since I have a decidedly Tablet PC-bent I'm thinking of gearing the original drawing tools around ink and the Tablet PC, but there's reason the implementation couldn't be more generic. I've learned from other projects, for instance, that to draw the greatest audience you need to be able to support non-Tablet people.
I've also been thinking about what recognition there should be when drawing. In the case of cartoons, "automatic" extraction of captions might be useful. In the case of pure ink sketches reco isn't needed. What makes sense is going to depend on what the application is.
Plenty of food for thought. Ideas anyone?
