I shipped my replacement
TabletPC back to
ViewSonic 3 days ago. Based on what I've read on
TabletPCBuzz, I believe the one they sent me had a bad
digitizer.
When the V1250 got warm from usage, the cursor would get jumpy.
Most of the time, it would just swing back and forth about a
centimeter, but sometimes, when it got really warm, it would jump to
the other side of the screen. It would also start doing wacky
things with input, selecting text or pushing buttons. It would
only do this when the AC adapter was attached; if I unplugged the
adapter at the first sign of trouble, things immediately calmed
down. The same goes for picking up the pen and then
re-introducing it to the digitizer. At first, I insanely toyed
with the idea of just working with it this way; the prospect of another
27 days without a TabletPC was
this unattractive to me. Eventually, I just had to concede defeat.
In just a short time, my right wrist and right arm are back to that old familiar pain, though I'm using the
Gateway Solo 5300 laptop I bought on
eBay after my 4.5 yr-old
Dell Inspiron 3800 had the bad grace to die during the
first Empty Hands episode.
Hurry, ViewSonic! I'm actually suffering over here!
