At 9am, a PC vendor rep was about to give a presentation to an audience
of technical support staff, yours truly included. However, our old Boxlite projector just wasn't listening to anything the
rep's laptop had to say, although it was happy to converse with
my TabletPC. Several of us fought with the devices (and with our
fellow techie hecklers) to no avail. After a few of the rep's
references to borrowing my baby (since all he needed was a web browser
and wireless connection), I handed my V1250 over. Someone found
it necessary to loudly point out that the brand of my TPC was different
than the brand the presenter represented, but I was happy to shout back
a couple of times that I'd purchased the TPC from the maligned company,
even if They-Who-Shall-Not-Be-Named didn't manufacture it. Other
than the fact that I forgot to close Outlook (and, therefore, LookOut)
and was embarrassed by the little pop-up windows every time I got spam
and email from co-workers, things went fine. I was a bit
mortified when the rep needed to open up Acrobat Reader, and it became
obvious to all who cared that I had never bothered to upgrade from
version 5.0, but it turned out that I was the only one who cared.
Thanks to my TabletPC, a lot of us know what to expect when we go
through the process of getting certified by our chosen PC manufacturer
(and perhaps not to use that model of projector!).
