MiniMage Again - Short Tablet Takes

Hopefully this will be the blog that has short, frequent entries about doing the TabletPC thing.

If you like any of this, I welcome you to check out my general tech blog at http://miniaturemage.blogspot.com/

No AoE III for My TabletPC

I'm well aware that my machine didn't meet the specs (1.4GHz proc, vs. my 1.0 GHz Pentium-M, and 64mb graphics with T&L, vs. my 64mb shared with no T&L) for Age of Empires III, but I was hoping to fudge it like I did with Dawn of War, which works just fine at 1024x768 in an 8-player LAN game with most of the frills turned down.

AoE III works wonderfully when I'm building my economy and infrastructure, but as soon as ships start shooting at each other, everything slows to a crawl (if I'm watching the battle, anyway, or if I get near enough to see the debris). I do have all the graphics settings at the lowest level.

So...anybody else tried Age of Empires 3?  I'm wondering what TPCs can handle it.

I have not tried it but was curious as to the amount of RAM in your Tablet PC.

768mb. Not a lot by today's standards, and I wish I could hold more, but it trounces the minimum of 256 for AoE3. That's partly why I was hoping I'd get away with it :).
