And then there was one...
A few weeks ago, I wasn't paying attention to what I was doing and ended up bringing my knee down on top of my TabletPC pen, which should not have been left laying on my ottoman chair. I knew what I'd done as soon as I heard the *CRACK!* To my relief, the pen remained in one piece and continued to function. I was even able to keep storing it in the V1250's pen garage.
Today. I was happily reading and posting to tech forums when I noticed something wrong. I didn't have my finger on it just yet (pun intended) but I discerned that something about my hand just wasn't right. Finally, it hit me: my pen was not extending far enough past my palm. The top two-thirds of my pen had quietly fallen off.
Despite the obvious chagrin I feel, I'm amused to note that the pen still works, despite the fact that the eraser portion is separated from the ink tip. The damage I caused is only to the plastic barrel and I even kind of like using the shorter version. Regardless, I can no longer trust this pen to my tablet's storage slot; the last of my four pens will make its way there, and I'll be shopping for a new, intact backup pen.
Wow...it looks like I can't buy one from ViewSonic, and Wacom apparently sells only the eraserless ones for Viewsonic. My first spare was purchased from Dell, but it seems they no longer have them, either. I may take my chances with Wacom's Penabled Tablet PC Eraser Pen, it looks very similar to mine, other than having a different color and no clip. Maybe I'll give Wacom a call.
