I am back (sort of). Posting has been extremely light the past few weeks (months) because the problem statement for the dissertation needed heavy work and a 30 minute presentation was required during the second year residency. By Friday, and after very little sleep and plenty of worry, the problem statement for
the dissertation prospectus was written in a form to present to a crowd of peers and potential mentors.
Despite an intense weekend, the presentation went well. Just a few short hours ago, a round of
applause erupted as all of the doctoral students realized they
had just completed 2/3 of the coursework and only have two more years to go! Now the real work begins, the dissertation.
My thoughts are pretty blurred as I reflect on the past weekend. The first chapter of the
dissertation is outlined, ready for some heavy writing and editing (followed by a full year of more writing and editing).
The next step is finding a mentor to help complete the dissertation. I'll start looking tomorrow for someone to help with the statistics. Actually, the plans for this week are to complete the statistics labs, improving my skills.
In between labs, I'll look around the community server website and see what is happening. An update for the software should be available in the next month. Some websites have already been updated with the 2.1 version. Hopefully the upgrade will be smooth.
I hope all is well in your world.
