Layne posted earlier that he was doing some Tablet PC Googling. The numbers he quoted are impressive in the Tablet PC favor. I am curious what queries he actually used because I am getting completely different numbers tonight.
I just tried and Google returns 6,720,00 for "Tablet PC":
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=%22tablet+pc%22
You might be getting results for "tablet" and "pc" if you didn't enclose both words in quotes like this (which still only returns 13 million results for me, not 16 million):
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=tablet+pc
As for Apple iPod? I'm getting 6,690,000 results:
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=%22apple+ipod%22
The Google results numbers jump all over the place though, it seems. It's probably more correct that there would be more information about the iPod than Tablet PC in the search engines as it is the #1 selling portable device. I saw a graphic in the current PC Magazine that shows iPods have a comfortable 68.8% of the market share.
