In one of our businesses I routinely am required to inspect the exterior of commercial property and residential homes. Even though I've been doing this for 10+ years, I still find it challenging locating some places in Pierce county and many places in neighboring counties. For awhile we used the less than desirable Mapquest service to map directions to these need-to-inspect properties.
Really, it wasn't until I bought the Microsoft Streets & Trips 2005 with GPS (after buying a Tablet PC) that I realize how handy these local mapping programs were. The problem with internet-only mapping services is, well, you need an internet connection. On numerous occasions, I'd be out in the field and the office would call with a request to inspect a property and -- before I had the Tablet PC and the GPS with Streets & Trips -- we'd have to work out detail directions. Now they just send give me the address which I can pull over to the side of the road and write down in OneNote and then enter in from OneNote to Microsoft Streets & Trips to plot the location from where I'm currently located to the destination. Press a button and it calculates the driving directions.
Handy!
