Surely the speculation has been there before about at Mac Tablet PC with the registering of that patent. IMO, a Mac Tablet would be great for the Tablet PC. Why? Awareness! Plus who wouldn't want to own an all white, beautifully constructed Mac Tablet (powered by Intel)? Apple makes some killer hardware and a lot of times there are software comparisons. Microsoft is a software company, not a hardware company. At Steve Jobs WWDC keynote earlier today a representative of the Microsoft Apple business development indicated there would be versions of Office to support the -- coming soon -- Intel based Macs.
As a Tablet PC owner and user the last thing I want is for the platform to die. Competition breeds excellence, so bring in more competition. Force Microsoft to be on its best software mode. Personally, I think Microsoft is at its best when it's on its heels, reeling from a competitor's punch. We doubtfully would have seen IE7 before Longhorn if it wasn't for Firefox.

Few sources, though, are commenting on the rumor that originally got my attention, that of sightings of an Apple tablet. Apple tablet rumors have been around for years, so there's naturally great skepticism. But again, the number of sources, and in particular, the confluence of events with the potential for a switch to Intel processors makes this intriguing.
I, too, am intrigued by the possibilities of a Mac Tablet and I think with today's Intel confirmation -- no longer are we dealing in rumours -- we could very well see the Mac Tablet become a reality.
