TD on Tablet PC

Tales, trials and tribulations of integrating the Tablet PC into a multi-business environment from someone who does not work for Microsoft.

Interviewee impressed by Tablet PC

Used the Tablet PC in a job interview I was conducting today. We're looking for someone new to add to our staff in our offline business and the final step in the interview process usually ends with me. During the interview I brought a digital photograph in the tablet to discuss a house inspection. I showed the interviewee a picture of a recent house we inspected and asked for commentary. I maximized the screen in portrait view and then listened to her comments on the inspection.

As sort of a test I kept the picture smaller so that it would show the picture from a distance view and then I used the zoom inside of Adobe Acrobat (the document was in Acrobat) to zoom in on the picture so more details of the house were exposed.

While this simple action could have been done on a laptop or by turning a desktop computer monitor, it was more like sharing a note on a legal pad, which is another part of the more cooperative experience using the Tablet PC than other platforms. The interviewee made the typical "that's pretty cool" commentary about the Tablet. Since it was an interview for a salesperson she seemed to appreciate how a tool can help increase attention and interest, which has been something I've said since buying this in December: Tablets are good tools for salespeople

I also used the Tablet for making interview notes in OneNote -- another first. I remember seeing Warner write awhile back on the various stages of Tablet PC usage and I wonder if he did a study on the business side of things?

I'm closing in on 200 days of ownership and still use the tablet every day. I've also begun some Tablet PC development more earnestly. We're about to be heading out for vacation for two weeks and most certainly the Tablet will be utilyzed on the road.

I suspect that as soon as I work through the EVDO issues I'm experiencing with the Tablet + Verizon I'll be using it even more as I'll have internet on the road which is something I've been excited about for quite some time.
